A snapshot of lives today for the people of tomorrow
The Anglesey Archives and Life Long Learning and Information Services of Anglesey County Council are working with the ‘Age Friendly Communities’ project (funded through Interreg 4A) in inviting pairs and groups of people to take part in a unique community observation project. We are eager to find as many individuals as possible of all ages who live on Anglesey and are willing to keep diaries during 2012.
It is hoped that at the end of the year we will get a snapshot of the lives of different nationalities and generations that will enable future historians and anyone else interested to compare the daily lives, the attitudes and impressions of those that lived on Anglesey in the past.
We would especially like to see pairs or groups from different generations within communities sharing and discussing aspects of their daily lives, their feelings and experiences with each other as they respond to each other’s diaries during the year. The pairs or groups do not have to be related and can be neighbours or friends.
The only instruction to follow is that the diaries have to be hand written as we believe that it is important for readers in the future to get to know some of the personality of the writer through their handwriting. It is up to the individual how often they make an entry. Whether daily or weekly all we ask is for a commitment to keep the diary throughout the year.
At the end of 2012 all the diaries will contribute to the island’s communal memory and they will be kept at the Anglesey Archives.
