Getting to the official start point
St Cybi's Church, Holyhead
The official start point of the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path is St Cybi's church, in the centre of Holyhead (grid reference SH247 826).
The church is located on the site of a roman fort, whilst the church itself dates from the 16th Century. There is a public car park directly north of the church, and the local bus terminus is just 150 metres away. If arriving by train or ferry you'll need to cross the Celtic Gateway; a new bridge spanning the harbour to connect directly with the town centre. The train station and ferry terminal are around 700 metres from the church.
Car
At the traffic lights go straight across. At the town clock turn left. Follow the one way system, bearing right at the fork following signs for the police station, past the old market building and down Boston Street. Turn right into a car park adjacent to St Cybi's Church.
Coach
National Express service to Bangor and Holyhead. If alighting at Bangor (35km/22 miles from Holyhead) local bus service number 4 runs regularly to Holyhead (see below).
Bus
Local bus service number 4 runs every half hour between Bangor and Holyhead. The local bus terminus in Holyhead is Summer Hill (SH246 827), opposite the old market building, west of St Cybi's Church. To reach the church walk down the hill away from the bus stop, join a pedestrianised way and St Cybi's church is in front of you. Train
All trains terminate at Holyhead at either platform 1 or 2. Leave the terminal, and head west crossing a bridge into Holyhead town centre. Join the pedestrianised high street to arrive at St Cybi's church.
Ferry
The ferry terminal is on the east side of the harbour. Cross the bridge connecting to the town and walk up the pedestrianised high street to arrive at St Cybi's Church.
