Litter picking on the coastal path
The Friends of the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path (FOACP) have, since their formation, carried out a litter picking programme along the Coastal Path and connecting beaches. In recent years, this has been progressively developed and enlarged with the help of several grants from Keep Wales Tidy, which also provides insurance for all our activities.
FOACP carry out a clear-up every month on average, on either a Wednesday or a Saturday morning, typically lasting for 2-3 hours. We arrange that everything we pick up is collected on the same day by the Waste Management Team of Isle of Anglesey County Council. We frequently get support from, and liaise with, similarly motivated groups on Anglesey. Non-members are always very welcome to come along and join in.
There is great personal satisfaction to be gained from restoring to its natural, pristine appearance an area that has become littered as a result of winds and tides. In addition, the result for walkers of the Coastal Path is a much more enjoyable experience.
Information on planned litter picks is given below and further details can be found at the website of FOACP: https://sites.google.com/site/friendsofangleseycoastalpath/litter-picks
Litter picks 2012
There are currently no planned litter picks because of the Rolling Walk that also involves daily litter clearance around the entire 125 of the Coastal Path
The map locations of all the meeting places can be found at the Friends’ web site:
